Why aren’t healthy non pre packaged food listed
I’m getting a little irated because I can’t find anything that I eat on the food Journal. I love to cook healthy and I know that alot of what I eat is healthy. but they don’t seem to have any foods on this thing that are healthy. I’m talking about grilled chicken, steamed veggies, ect. What does everyone fry there foods now days and I’m not a scientist so how would I know how many calories they are. most of the stuff that I eat I grow myself or I buy fresh from the meat market down the street and the food journal just won’t let you add stuff without knowing the calories. if someone could help me I would appreciate it and I’m sorry if this is a rant.
I don’t know why some foods are so difficult to find in the database..for situations like this I purchased a calorie counter. You can then save it as a custom food if you use it frequently. I like the calorie counter also because you can take it anywhere, and many of them list nutrition info for popular restaurants.

There’s a button called “calorie counter” along the same bar at the top of the page - same bar where the food journal is. This has helped me figure out what the nutritional value of most stuff I cook is. Once you click on the calorie counter, a list of categories comes up on the left side of the screen… click whatever category you want, then you can search for your particular food. Hope this helps!
I know what you mean…it’s very annoying!!
I have been frustrated with this too and now have a lot of items in my custom foods section but it is time consuming to look it all up and you are right, other people must eat steamed vegies, grilled meats and fresh homemade hamburgers etc must’nt they?
The journal is hard to find easy stuff so I bought myself a calorie counting book and just did it myself. It may not be the best but the site is free so I just put up with it.
